TRACE Organizes 2025 Annual Ramadan Lecture As Guest Lecturer Harps On Total Obedience To Traffic Regulations

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance And Enforcement Agency, Ota Divisional Command, last Wednesday organized a Ramadan Lecture, during which the guest lecturer, an Islamic Scholar, Imam Abdul Waliy Bello, said obedience to traffic regulations is obedience to God's command. 

Speaking on the Theme of the lecture, "Islamic Role On Obeying Traffic Rules", the Cleric, who is also the Imam of Sabiolegbe Central Mosque, Ota, Ogun State, urges motorists to see Life as sacred, which must be nurtured and protected through obeying traffic rules. 

He urged motorists to imbibe the culture of obedience to traffic rules as executing God's command and preservation of life.

TRACE Operatives, in attendance, were led by the Ota Divisional Commander, Victoria Olaoke, under the guidance and leadership of Area Commander, Ogun West, Ajibade Adekunle, with the directive of TRACE Commander General/CEO, Dr (Prince) 'Seni Ogunyemi. 

Stressing that it is the will of God that people should regard life as sacred which must be nurtured, saved and protected, the cleric said in Islam, nobody is permitted to take his own Life or any other Life because God is the Sole Giver of Life who only can take it. 

He said failure to obey traffic rules will automatically lead to either one jeopardizing his own life or putting other peoples' lives in danger. This may lead to the victims' premature death or permanent disability and turn their dependants to opharns. 

"Life is sacred. It must not be tampered with. When you disobey traffic rules, it may lead to accident that may take the life of a bread winner who has the responsibility of taking care of many dependants, including wife, children, etc. God does not look kindly on such people who cause mayhem on other people because of their stubbornness and stupidity of not obeying traffic rules and regulation. 

"In the Quran and the Bible, God specifically warns that no one should take Life, but everyone must nurture and protect Life which is sacred. Life is sacred, it must not be taken, but nurtured and protected", the cleric sermonised. 

He also talks of importance of using seat belts which he said once saved a colleague of his while studying in Saudi Arabia, whose car tumbled more than trice but was not hurt because he used a seat belt . 

The cleric also advised the general public not to see TRACE Operatives as enemies who are on the roads to disturb their peace, but they should see them as "Life Savers and God Ambassadors" who have come to control behaviour of those sent by Satan to destroy Life. 

"Fighting TRACE Operatives on the road is like fighting God or the  Governor of the state. You know the repercaution. This is waging war against government to one's detriment. You see that stubborn musician who was misbehaving but later acknowledged the fact that after God, it is government. He came to realization of this fact, after he has learnt his lesson in a hard way. It is better to be obedient to traffic rules than to engage traffic Agents in a fight. 

"God said if you save a life, you save all lives created by Him and on the other hand, if you destroy a Life, you destroy all lives. This is because many lives are attached to one lives to survive. 

"TRACE officers are live savers. Many people whose brains are not correct, the moment they are arrested, TRACE will reset their brains through enlightenment. 

"You must obey TRACE Operatives on the road as God demands, that as a Muslim, it is your responsibility to obey traffic rules".

The cliric further advocate that the government authority should provide insurance scheme for TRACE Officers in view of their delicate and risky job. 

He also advised regular training on traffic rules for motorists, especially truck drivers and commercial drivers, while urging TRACE Operatives, to commit safety of their lives to Almighty God on daily basis, before leaving home, either in Islamic way or Christian way, because of the risky nature of their duty. 

While bringing the Ramadan lecture to a close, the Imam committed all TRACE Staff, from the top to the least to God's blessings, safety, and guidance for regular promotion and successful retirement, avoidance of death and permanent disability during service. 

The occasion also witnessed distribution of food items for breaking of fast and taking of group photographs.
