The executive Chairman, Ado Odo-Ota local government, Hon Wasiu Lawal has commended decisive actions taken by the team of Nigerian Union Of Journalist, Independent Online chapel, Ogun west in streamlining nefarious activities of fake men who usually portrays themselves as Journalists dishing out mostly fake and unverified information deceiving the general public.
"I have observed downward trends of fake news in the Council since your inauguration and I must really commends your efforts in dealing with that" hon Lawal said.
The Chairman made the remarks when the NUJ team paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday 13th February 2025 at his office.
Speaking further, he emphasised the union expected moves to ensure sanctity of the Fourth realm profession in the society that guarantees adherence to the ethics and practices of journalism is crucial in todays world. Mentioned he observed new dimensions of NUJ practices in the council now better off than when he was a caretaker of the council years ago. He thereby urged the union to join hands with his administration to build better future together for dividends of democracy to thrive at the grassroot level especially in the era of local government Autonomy.
Comrade Kehinde Taiwo,the NUJ Independent Online Chapel Chairman in the company of other members to the Chairman's office reacted by commending the levels of achievement recorded by the fresh administration of the Council chairman, said the move of a cleaner council, beautification of the council premises and several other attention given as palliatives for road maintenance are highly commendable.
While addressing multiple issues to be touched in the council, Com. Taiwo advocates that better attention be given to School sports developments. He added, All these are achievable when facilities are upgraded to promote youth restlessness in the Council.
