Embattled ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa returns to Lagos tomorrow, Saturday, 25 January, 2025, for the first time after his removal, reports thegazellenews.com
Obasa has been in Abuja since Saturday, 18 January, 2025, trying to get the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to hear his own side of the story in the circumstances leading to his removal.
However, the President having hear the two sides of the story, finally gave approval for the impeachment of the embattled former Speaker.
Thirty three lawmakers signed the Impeachment notice and they all participated in the Impeachment process which took place on Monday, 13 January, 2025.
At the time of the impeachment, Obasa was in the United States of America. He made efforts to see the President in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during his last visit but was not able to see the President.
This prompted his decision to return to Abuja in his bid to see the President.
After the final verdict by the President, Obasa is set to return to Lagos.
His supporters are being mobilised to welcome him back to the state.
A statement by one Segun Balogun JP, Chairman of Ward F in Agege Local Government indicated that all ward, zonal and LG executives and stakeholders have been instructed to meet at ‘Ikeja GRA of Hon Mudashiru Obasa’.
What is curious about the meeting is venue. Ikeja GRA residence apparently is the Speaker’s lodge, the official residence of the number three citizen of the state which seized to be the residence of Obasa since he was impeached on Monday, 13 January, 2025.
Below is the full text of the statement by Segun Balogun.
