“Why Not ? If Not Obasa” – Arise Lagos Movement

It is equitable, just and fair that Lagos West produced the next Governor of the State and the best hand from the Lagos West Senatorial District is Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi-Obasa

The ‘Arise Lagos Movement’, ( ALM), a coalition of civil society organizations across nooks and crannies of Lagos State has appealed to Stakeholders of APC, community leaders, residents of Lagos State to rally round Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi-Obasa for the Governorship ticket of APC, come 2027.

The organization noted that Obasa has requisite experience, competence and qualifications to steer the affairs of the Centre of Excellence,, a growing mega city. Hon. Obasa, a Barrister at Law, has ebulliently shown over time that he is a loyal party member who has demonstrated rare commitment to the actualisation of the Lagos Developmental Template since his entrance into the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2003 and subsequent elevation to the post of the Speakership of the House in 2015.

Obasa’s leadership qualities can be clearly glimpsed from his efficient of members of the House from the Forty Constituencies of the Assembly without rancour and discord. He also ensure seamless relationships with other arms of Government, the Executive and Judiciary.

ALM observed that it is only equitable that Obasa, from Ward E, Agege Constituency 1 in Lagos West be supported. It pointed out that the principle of rotational leadership has been entrenched in the political demography of our societies since the return of constitutional democracy in 1999. The Movement called attention to the fact that, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( now President), from Lagos West Senatorial District governed the State, 1999 – 2007; Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola from Lagos Central ruled, 2007 – 2015; Akinwunmi Ambode from Lagos East was in charge of affairs of the State, 2015 – 2019, while present Governor Babajide SanwoOlu is from Lagos Central. It is therefore, equitable, just and fair that Lagos West produced the next Governor of the State. It submitted that the best hand from the Lagos West Senatorial District is Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi-Obasa.

ALM is strongly of the view that experience is the best teacher of good statesmanship. It opined that Obasa who had been the Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Speakers, 2018 – 2020 has both State-wide and national clout to position Lagos for Greater Heights.

The organization said among many Bills, Obasa sponsored the following social relevant Laws : Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, LNSC; The Cancer Institute Law; Prohibition of Kidnappings and Related Acts Law and, Yoruba Language Preservation and Promotion Law. Hon. Speaker Obasa also carry out the following vital projects; Annual Stakeholders Meetings to address Germain issues across LGAs/LCDAs in the State, provides Scholarships to students, sponsor Obasa Cup, deploying sports as a means of enhancing mental alertness of youths away from crimes and social vices, as well as Annual distribution of WAEC and JAMB Forms.

ALM, thus, confidently posed the question, that with all these credentials – Why Not ? If Not, Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi-Obasa for Lagos State Governor, 2027 – 2031 ?
