As a reliable service club which focuses on human well-being and other aspects of lives, Over one hundred and fifty Market Men and Women of Kayero Market and Sango, Ota Motor Park benefitted from Medical Outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Otta in collaboration with the Medical and Health Community Development Service of National Youth Service Corps. The President of the Rotary Club of Otta, Rotarian Jackie Kassim in her opening remarks disclosed that the Club embarked on the exercise following the general attitude of People towards regular Medical check ups to prevent the silent health killer ailments. She added that no beneficiary pays any money as the check up and drugs are free.
The Disease Prevention and Treatment Outreach with the Theme, Cholera Awareness, prevention and control, had Professor Chinnoyen Love Moses taking the Traders through basic Healthcare and prevention principles adding that, checking Blood Pressure, Sugar level, prevent the silent Diseases to fester. He also advised the Traders in the Market to keep their Environment clean and pay attention to their personal Hygiene in order to prevent the Cholera and other Communicable diseases far from them. In an Interview, the Chairman of the Committee, Rotarian Sunday Enimola disclosed that the choice of the Garage/Market was based on the high Population and the average level of Health Awareness and prevention of Traders and Transporters. He added that about one hundred and fifty beneficiaries were recorded with drugs according to their diagnosis given. The Head of the Garage Traders, Alhaja Azeezat Asade and a Representative of Ado-Odo Otta Citizens Engagement Committee, Alhaji Adeyinka who participated in the Exercise commended the Rotary Club of Otta for initiating the Health Awareness Outreach, particularly now that the weather is hot and hasty, Awareness efforts become very apt, inside the Garage is just perfect.
