Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi has defended a total expenditure of N1,505,611,267.92 to be expended by the Ministry in the year 2025.
Hon. Fagbayi while defending the budget before the State House of Assembly members at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta said the Capital expenditure would be N620.9m, while N884.7m would go for recurrent expenditure.
Speaking on the outgoing year's budget, the Commissioner said the Ministry generated N34.4m against the revenue target of N61m as at 31st of October, 2024 which stands for 67.62 percent budget performance.
He noted that, the Ministry was committed to the promotion of tourism development in the state, saying the capital expenditure would cater for the rehabilitation of tourist sites as well as the procurement of operational vehicles for revenue drive of the Ministry.
The committee members, Hon. Damilare Gbenro and Hon. Babatunde Tella called for even distribution of resources to tourism development across the state, advising the Ministry to encourage investors towards developing tourist sites such as, Oke Eri, in Imeko Afon Local Government Area and Bilikisu Sugbo in Ijebu Ode.
