HOW LASBCA AGENCY DISOBEYS COURT ORDER, DEMOLISHED AJASA/ISOTO COMMUNITY PROPERTIES

Some of Demolished properties at Ajasa/Isoto community

The Ajasa/Isoto community market and residents at Ajasa command road,Agbado oke-odo local government woke up on Thursday 28th November 2024 to witnessed the Lagos State Building and Control Agency (LASBCA) Stormed the areas around 10:30 an with full force enforcement teams that came to demolish many building facilities in the community. Claims from some of them was to act on earlier served notice of demolition to the community occupants.
According to the Chairman of the market Community, Mr Rilwan Ahmed, and a lawyer Adeolu Dada another stakeholder at the area, several properties were destroyed by the building agency which came with a full force armed security men including team of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) operatives led the bulldozers and other machines to the community.

The court documents to maintain status quo by both parties

Mr Adeolu stated the community has taken the issue to court with Suit number LD/15640 LMW/2024 after the LASBCA team visited the area with notice of evacuation earlier, added the matter is still under litigation by the court of law, the last court position ordered stay of execution. We wonder why a government agency would flagrantly disobey the rule of law of Federal Republic of Nigeria while position of law indicate the status quo be maintained,he said.
Mr Adeolu added that after series of adjournments at the court, the last court day of 7th of August clearly ordered both party ,that is, LASBCA and Concerned residents to maintain 'status quo' which interpreted as stay of execution on the matter, however, LASBCA's team with heavily armed security men stormed Ajasa/Isoto community and demolished properties on a case that is still in Court.
Ahmed corroborated that there has not been any court judgement that empowered the building agency to demolish their properties hence the matter is still in Court.

Grapevine reports around the community as reported and published in the Nation newspaper on Thursday July 25th and September 4th 2024 respectively earlier had alleged the agency aiming to relocate Katangowa market traders to same powerline location they are trying to evacuate property owners from,an unjustifiable claims they proved driven them to safe people's life from dangers, while this is encroachment on fundamental human right of the residents and property owners, its also a case of impunity to act on any case under litigation of a jurisprudence Court of Justice.

Based on LASBCA's demolition action taken on Thursday 28th November 2024, the Community through their lawyer Mr Adeolu Dada has commenced contempt of proceeding against 2 persons and parties of Mr Gbolahan Oki, LASBCA's general manager and Mr Kola Williams, Agbado oke-odo district manager of same agency.

The entire property owners and traders of the Ajasa/Isoto community thereby cry to the Federal government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and State government under amiable governor of lagos State,Gov Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, the executive governor of Lagos State to intervene and call the LASBCA leadership of Gbolahan Oki to order to stop demolishing properties under litigation and compensate property owners of the community for flagrant and Illegal Job been carried out at the community.
Calls put through to the LASBCA's director of information,Mr Oluwatisegunfunmi Olaoye to confirm the agency's position stated he has been transfered out of the agency months ago
