While active participation in traffic and road control requires regular health maintainance and fitness,sound physical activities with balance diet is a key factor to ensure one is healthy.
As part of measures to ensure physical fitness and general wellbeing of its members of staff, Ogun West Area Command of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), today – October 31, 2024 organized a free health screening on quality health maintenance for all the staff under the command at the agency’s premises in Ilo-Awela in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The screening aimed at acquainting the staff with the importance of good dieting which promotes health, reducing the risk of chronic diseases, ultimately leading to good health and eradication of premature deaths.
The exercise was initiated by the TRACE Commander/Chief Executive Officer, Dr Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi. It was supervised by Ogun West Area Commander, Cdr Adekunle Ajibade.
Dr Ogunyemi said the health talk/screening was organized by TRACE and Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Health Centre as part of the series of the TRACE welfare package to improve workforce’s medical fitness and mental alertness, inform and educate the personnel on healthy living and equip them with useful preventive health-related tips.
Operation know your health is an initiative of Nigeria Health Commissioners’ Forum and is proudly supported by Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Ogun State Government and Federal Ministry of Health.
Cdr Ogunyemi encouraged the staff to use the advantage of the screening to always check their health status to achieve health improvement and disease prevention.
Different medical examinations for Diabetes, Blood Group, Blood Pressure, free counselling amongst others were carried out during the programme which had in attendance all the personnel that fall within the Area Command.
In her opening address, Ota Divisional Commander, Cdr Victoria Olaoke, urged all staff that participate in the screening to maximise the opportunity to do all the tests especially the blood pressure and sugar tests, so that they will know their health status and know how to care for their health, adding that good nutrition is an important factor for living a healthy lifestyle which should be combined with physical activities.
