Former FRSC Boss,Oyeyemi, Applauds TRACE Boss, Seni Ogunyemi For Professionalism On Transportation

 Former Corps Marsha, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has given kudos to the Corps Commander, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, 'Seni Ogunyemi for his effort in ensuring transportation is given its proper identity as a profession worthy of emulation by others. 

He was speaking as a guest lecturer at the University of Lagos during a one day seminar/workshop and induction of students with the theme "Innovation and Sustainability In Multi-Modal Transportation: Navigating Career Paths In A Changing Landscape". 

He said Commander Ogunyemi is the only person in the country who has professionalised transportation as a Career in TRACE Agency in Ogun State. 

"Seni is the only person that has professionalised transportation in transport agency in Nigeria. He should be given a resounding kudos as a worthy CIOTA Member". 

Earlier, in his remarks, Commander Ogunyemi said members of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, CIOTA, are very responsible professionals. 

"This is why I have been sustaining the course of CIOTA for years in TRACE and make sure TRACE Officers are inducted as members. 

"I have made transportation a reliable profession that every TRACE Officer is happy to belong. In TRACE, as members of CIOTA, we engage ourselves in capacity building and take transportation profession not only on road, but also on water, air, and rail.

"That is why we are traffic officers, not only road officers. We can function anywhere. That's what we have done in capacity building in TRACE. There should come a time when nobody can be a transport commissioner or minister without being a member of CIOTA. 

In his welcome Address, the host, Prof Iyiola Oni said CIOTA is engaged in making transportation system very smooth and pleasurable as against the corrent hardship it is presently. 

"University of Lagos is a very special university. You can access it by air, road, and water. We are trying multimodal transport system to avoid the issue of congestion and let it be a thing of the past. 

The President, Dr Segun Obayendo rep. By Prof Samuel Ojewunmi also talked about critical role of transportation in any economy. He said transportation starts from home and that no product reaches its final point of production until such is transported to consumers.

"It is the live wire from which every other thing moves. Transport does not rival or compete with any sector, rather it facilitates all sectors. 

"Chatter institute of Transportation, CIOTA is the first professional body to pioneer transport section in Nigeria in 1986", he said, while congratulating prof Oni for establishing multimodal transportation. 

Speaking in the same vein, former president of CIOTA, Mrs Mulikat Fehintola Sanni, erased the erroneous notion of the general public that those who engage in transportation are motor touts, aka Agberos. She said it is a profession that all should be be happy to belong.
