Lagos and Ogun Zonal Commanding Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corps Marshal Jonathan Owoade has reiterated his stand in ensuring the Zone remain as the best in the country.
He disclosed this on Thursday, May 30, 2023 when he paid a familiarisation visit to Ota and Idiroko Commands as part of effort to strengthen a cordial working relationship in terms of human capacity development and training among the agency’s personnel.
“This familiarisation visit was aimed to be more familiar with my subordinates for effective service delivery and to tell that them that their health should be considered so paramount while on duty.”
He discouraged the personnel against extortion popularly known as ‘roger’, aggressiveness, rudeness, insurbordination and vices that can tarnish the image of the Corps. “Our ultimate priority is to reduce crashes to the barest minimum,” he said.
ACM Owoade urged the Unit Commanders under his supervision to always organise trainings for their operatives about the rules and regulations that guide their operations while on duty.
“The agency is not expecting any of its staff to indulge in drugs to mitigate against the ugly trend of incessant knock down and other attitude likely to damage the image of the agency while on duty. He advised them to be safety conscious at all times
“The Unit Commanders should always organise workshop/seminars in schools, religious homes, markets and others to sustain the reduction of road traffic crashes in the country. “We must always sustain and build on the standard of this agency to achieve its goals”
To leverage on the safety of the school pupils while making use of the road, Idiroko Unit Command organised enlightenment in some schools within its jurisdiction.
The programme was part of activities to mark year 2024 children’s day anniversary. It was themed: “Road Security and it’s importance for the Safety of the Nigerian Child.”
Idiroko Unit Commander, ACC. Charles K. Daramola advised schools to imbibe the spirit of road safety culture as a means to catch them young through awareness.
