One of the leading political support groups in Ogun West senatorial district, DA/YAYI Liberators have heaped praise on the senator representing Ogun West senatorial district in the red chambers, Senator Dr. Solomon Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi), The Aremo of Yewa land for his unbelievable achievements within the last six months of representing the zone.
The founder of the group, Comrade Ibrahim Fayomi, who is popularly known as Olumako, said this while speaking on a radio programme in Otta during the week. Comrade Ibrahim said that with the number of projects ongoing across the senatorial district coupled with the massive empowerment programmes of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, one can say such is unbelievable.
Comrade Ibrahim said since the inception of Ogun West Senatorial District, the district has never had a senator with such a track record of constituency project delivery and massive empowerment programmes going on simultaneously.
"What we see from our past senators are petty empowerment programmes and maybe the building of two blocks of classrooms in selected areas only. Before now, I did not believe a senator could facilitate road projects, not until the emergence of Senator Yayi. When you complain of bad roads to a senator here before now, they will tell you it is not part of their duty as they are only lawmakers who are to make laws and not to construct roads.
" Senator Yayi has changed that narrative entirely. You can go to all five local governments in Ogun West; you will see his road projects, school buildings, hospitals, markets, and community town hall building projects all over the senatorial district, and this he has achieved in less than a year in office.
" I hear one faceless youth group saying he is personalising government projects, and those saying that are only jealous of his achievements. Yayi has never personalised any project. When you go to the site of this project, you will see captions on the board clearly stating that the projects are government constituency projects that are being facilitated by him.
"I don't see anything wrong in saying I facilitated a project when I did. If Yayi had said that he funded those projects, it would have been a different thing. I think those sponsoring the faceless youth group are threatened by Yayi's growing popularity, and since they don't have anything to show as achievements, they resulted in cheap blackmail.
" Another interesting thing is that even Yayi's empowerment programmes are not based on party membership alone. He has empowered market men and women, farmers, and artisans, and he has even given students who are not party members scholarships in Ogun West. A lot of communities in Ogun West have benefited from the distribution of free transformers.
Comrade Ibrahim, however, urged the good people of Ogun West Senatorial District to keep praying for Yayi as better days are still ahead. He also asked that stakeholders in Ogun West come together and produce a single governorship candidate in 2027, which he believes Senator Yayi is the only candidate who has the charisma to become the next and first governor Ogun West senatorial district will ever produce.
