The families of Mr Aransi Lasisi (deceased) Mr John Durolaje (deceased) and an octogenarian Mr Michael Ayedun, on Sunday, February 4, 2024 sent a Save Our Souls message to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Over impending breakdown of law and order as a result of land encroachment involving a highly placed personality and three families.
The late Lasisi, late Durolaye and the 82 years old Mr Ayedun are the land owners of number 30, 32 and 34 respectively at Ifelodun Street, Aluminum Village Dopemu Agege, Lagos State.
According to the spokesperson of the trio, son to one of the affected land owners, Mr Oluwaseyi Lasisi, the encroacher also have properties in the aforementioned street, but surprisingly he forcefully erected block of shops covering the three families plots at the same address over four decades.
He said: “To prevent the crisis that could degenerate from this issue, Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, which is saddled with the responsibility of Sustainable Smart City of Choice, Sustainability, Resilient and Attractive to Business through Community Regeneration and Inclusive Physical Planning was brought in and all parties were asked to provide valid documents to substantiate their claims but encroacher was unable to provide any even after being served with letter of invitation four times.
“Aftermath, demolition was carried out by the same ministry after the encroacher’s failure to provide any documents for the illegal erection of shops on peoples’ land on December 21, 2023. Therefore, the three plots of land owners advised by the same ministry after the demolition to erect perimeter fence to prevent their properties from further encroachment which has been done.
“Meanwhile the encroacher marked the fence covering the three building with “STOP WORK” to give people the impression that it was from the government, but the same Ministry denied knowledge of it. Perhaps, a report was made to Alabo Police Station. Aftermath, the encroacher has continued to bring in hoodlums to harass the occupants of the affected buildings,” Oluwaseyi Lasisi, has said.
He further appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Nigerian Police, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, and other concerned authorities to Wade into this matter to forestall impending breakdown of law and order as the oppressor is still sending hoodlums to harass the residents of the aforementioned houses in pursuant of his plan to rebuild the demolished shops.
