Lawmakers who perpetrated the ‘palace coup’ against the speaker stated that they did so because the speaker has been collecting money from the governor on their behalf and pocketing it. They claimed he always told that that there is no money meanwhile, he gets a lot of money from the governor.
However, extra information from PDP member, Tonye Barcanista has disclosed that the removal of the speaker is not unconnected to the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan ‘Yayi’ which the governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun isn’t in support of.
It was made known that the impeached speaker has pitched his tent with Senator Yayi and due to this perceived betrayal, lawmakers loyal to the governor impeached him and installed a new speaker who is loyal to the governor.
‘’Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ‘Yayi’, who represents Ogun West in the Senate, is said to be interested in becoming the Governor in 2027 at the end of Dapo Abiodun’s tenure.’’
‘’His ambition is being opposed by Governor Abiodun, and of course the PDP. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, is said to be working in cohort with Senator Yayi. To contain Yayi, 9 APC legislators who are Governor Abiodun’s loyalists and 9 PDP legislators in the House of Assembly teamed up to remove the Speaker.’’
‘’ In his place, they appointed Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide (APC), a loyalist of the Governor as the new Speaker. It should be noted that of the three ministers in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu, Yayi got one slot (Ishaq Salako), Former Governor Gbenga Daniel got one slot (Bosun Tijani), while the last slot came directly from President Bola Tinubu (Wale Edun). Governor Dapo Abiodun has zero input. ‘’
‘’I know that Yayi will fight back because the Politics of 2027 has started in Ogun APC. Historically, Ogun State is usually the first state to Kickstart politicking in Nigeria. I think the state the most enlightened state politically in Nigeria.’’
