Abducted 10-yr-old boy rescued in owode yewa, reunited with family by Police

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Nigeria Police has rescued a 10-year old boy, Oyewale Olamide Emmanuel from his captors in Owode Yewa area, Ogun State after his abduction on Monday September 30th 2019.

Olamide, was, however, reunited with his father Ayokunle Oyewale at Gas line area, Onimalu, Ota on Wednesday, October 2nd.

According to a statement issued on Monday by police spokesperson of Atan divisonal command, CSP Monday Ugbodu, the Divisional Police officer Isreal Balogun's  directives on receipt on information about Olamide's Abduction led to the arrest of some suspects and Olamide’s rescue.

The suspects arrested include 30-year-old, Ifabiyi Oyewale  and  62-year-old man, a chief priest of a family shrine, Mr Ifapohunda Oyewale both in Owode Yewa, Ogun State.

The principal suspect, Ifabiyi Oyewale who is well-known to the family abducted him under the pretext of being a driver who was sent by the the victim mother to help return the victim home from school after school's closing hour and from there took him to Owode Yewa where he kept him with Mr Ifapohunda at a place believed to be a family shrine.

Ifabiyi was said to have kidnapped the boy on the instruction of Mr Ifapohunda who happens to be the family chief priest and that they intended taking the boy to a forest which they regarded as evil forest so as to use the boy for sacrifice. He further confessed to the police that the family was at logger head with the father of Olamide who refused to release him for sacrifice as children giving birth to in Olamide's condition in the family are believed to be bewitched and had to be sacrificed to the gods.

Police said it is still on the search for another suspect, 58-year-old Fatai Ifaniyi who is also connected to the crime.

According to a statement which quoted Olamide’s father to have said, “I thank God o! I thank Police o! I have even lost hope! I just received a call I should come to the police station to collect my son!”

The Divisional Police officer, Isreal advised parents and guardians that “most criminal harms done to children, including child stealing, child trafficking, rape, defilement, abduction, kidnap etc, are usually carried out by persons they are familiar with.”

“Parents and guardians should pay close attention to their children/wards especially on their movements to and fro school in order to prevent any untoward situation that might endanger or bring the children to harm’s way,” he added.
