Storm Is Over – Betty Akeredolu Revives Hope On Akeredolu’s Health

BY – Oluwafunmilayo Ogedengbe

Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the First Lady of Ondo State, announced that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu will be concluding his medical vacation and returning soon.

With the announcement from the First Lady of Ondo State, citizens of Ondo State can now find solace, after a period of uncertainty about the fate of the State.

This update was conveyed during the inauguration of the 2023 BEMORE summer boot camp for 300 girls.

Using a lyric from R Kelly’s song, Mrs Akeredolu said: “The storm is over now and we are seeing the sunshine.”

Earlier, there were reports on Sunday stating that the Governor had returned to the country. This information emerged when he was observed alighting from a helicopter with a caption that read “welcome back.”

The news was quickly debunked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde. He said Akeredolu was still in Germany and focused on his full recovery.

Olatunde clarified that the video was recorded while the Governor was on a campaign tour in preparation for the last elections.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a recent video circulating on social media, suggesting the return of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State from his medical vacation.

“While we acknowledge the eagerness of the people of the state, as well as supporters and well-wishers from both within and outside the country to have the Governor back, we want to clarify that Governor Akeredolu is currently in Germany, focused on his full recovery.

“Governor Akeredolu extends his deep appreciation to the citizens of Ondo State for their unwavering prayers and support.

“Their genuine concern and compassion have been instrumental in aiding his recovery journey.

“It’s important to note that Governor Akeredolu will return to the state very soon to continue executing his administration’s Redeemed agenda and providing impactful governance.

“The video in question, which is circulating, was captured during the Governor’s campaign tour in preparation for the last Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“Governor Akeredolu is eagerly looking forward to reuniting with the people of the sunshine state.

“He is deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support, and he can’t wait to continue working towards a brighter future for Ondo State.”

In July, Governor Akeredolu’s request for an extension of his medical leave, addressed to the Ondo State House of Assembly, left the citizens of Ondo State in a state of unease and uncertainty, with his Deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa in-charge as the acting-governor.
