Ogun Police Warns Religious Groups Against Night Programmes..calls for caution

By IGE ADEKUNLE
Ogun State Police Command has cautioned religious organisations operating within the state to avoid holding programmes at nights in the interest of their members’ safety and security.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, while giving  the advice said it was safer and more advisable to hold programmes during the day, just to avoid unnecessary attacks by miscreants.
”We are not saying people should not undertake their religious activities, all we are saying is that they should close before it is dark.
“It would be recalled that only recently, a clergyman was killed and another abducted at Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state. Holding programmes in the daytime, worshipers would avoid undue threats to their safety and it will also reduced unnecessary pressures on police and other security agencies.
”The current situation in the state calls for every resident to be careful and cautious,” SP Odutola, said.
She also admonished religious organisations to always contact security agencies before gathering their members most especially while organizing any programme that could likely run in the night to ensure adequate security.
Odutola reiterated the commitment of the police to adequately protect the lives and property of the residents.
