Traffic Offence: Police Arrest 27-yr-Old Man For Assault, Injure female Traffic Warden

A young man has incurred the wrath of the law for an alleged serious offence of assault occasioning harm on a woman traffic warden at Sango-Otta in Ogun State.

The 27-year-old suspect, Suleiman Oluwo, threw caution to the wind by clouting the traffic warden in the face, the intensity that tore open the victim’s lower right eyelid.

Sergeant Amudat Yaya’s offence, Crime Puzzle learnt, was for reprimanding her assaulter, who parked a Toyota Venza car in the middle of the road and went away.

As one of the officers detailed to control traffic in that axis, Sergeant Amudat noticed traffic build-up on Ijoko Road and spotted the car, marked KJA267 HJ, in the middle of the road and moved to the spot.

According to eye witnesses account, the officer, wondering why the car was parked in such an obstructive manner without recourse to other road users and repeatedly asked, “who parked this car”?

“When no one came forth to claim ownership of the car and, probably state reason(s) for the obstructive parking for almost ten minutes, she ordered one of her subordinates to detach the number plates, which were handed over to her. While she was leaving the spot, the driver ran after her and, from the rear, forcefully pulled out the number plates from her and handed it to someone, the effect of which injured the officer in the hand”, one of the eye witnesses said.

Crime Puzzle further gathered that, the suspect went further to call the officer a thief and, thereafter, punched her in the face.

“His bid to escape was prevented by the injured officer, who ensured her firm grip of him. But, rather than being remorseful, the suspect did the worst by stripping her of the top”, our reporter gathered.

Reacting to the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Dahiru Saleh, described the act as criminal, saying that the suspect would be charged to court.
