CBNNotes:FCMB Gives Update On New Naira Notes

First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in line with the introduction of the new Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has advised its esteemed customers to deposit their old Naira notes before year 2023.

The bank warned that the old notes will cease to be legal tender after January 31st, 2022.

FCMB stated this via its official Twitter page on Monday, October 31st, 2022.

It reads; “Following the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announcement to redesign the 200, 500, and 1,000 Naira notes, please note that existing notes of these denominations will no longer be regarded as legal tender by January 31, 2023.”

“This means you will not be able to spend them again from that date. But you will be able to get the new banknotes from December 15, 2022 at any FCMB branch.”

“To help you prepare for this change, you should:

  1. Start depositing the Naira notes to be redesigned into your FCMB accounts; there will be no charges for this. Some of our branches will be open on Saturdays to take your deposits.
  2. Take advantage of our alternate channels, FCMB New Mobile, Internet banking, and*329# USSD to limit your use of cash.
  3. Use your FCMB Debit cards to make payments online and on POS Terminal

“For more information and enquiries, please call our 24/7 contact center on 07003290000 or 012798800 or chat with us via Whatsapp on (+234) 090 999 99814 or (+234) 090 999 99815.”
