THEgood people of Ago – Iwoye and generally that of Ijebu North Local Government comprising: Oru, Awa, Ilaporu, Ijebu – Igbo and other adjoining communities are rolling out the drums to celebrate the construction of the road linking Ilishan Community to Ago – Iwoye which passes the front of the State University – Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago – Iwoye to Oru, Awa and Ijebu – Igbo communities.
This remarkable and unprecedented infrastructural intervention by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is so much appreciated by all the concerned communities because the road has been abandoned by successive governments for over 30 years causing serious challenge and pains to those plying the road from Shagamu Express through Ilishan to Ago – Iwoye.
According to a motorist, Mr Sadiku Adepitan, passing through Ago – Iwoye to Ilishan en route Shagamu which is only 15 kilometres will take a motorist an average of one and half hours which after the construction of the road now takes less than 20 minutes.
Speaking in the same vein, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, a Transporter residing in Ijebu- Igbo complained of how most transporters would rather spend longer hours going to Ijebu – Ode and linking the Benin – Shagamu Express way spending over one hour to get to Shagamu which entail more risk for them and more fuel for their vehicles which translates to higher fares for passengers and goods.
The entire University Community of Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago – Iwoye, Ako Community, Ijesa – Ijebu, Irolu and Ilishan communities who forms part of direct beneficiaries of this very important road are full of gratitude to the Dapo Abiodun-led government who has successfully wiped off the protracted tears on the eyes of the people in these communities and are now better empowered by the construction of the road to do their businesses within the environment and up to Lagos without stress.
