Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives and APC member, has taken a stand in opposition to his party’s Muslim presidential ticket for the 2023 political election.
CAN’s situation on the presidential ticket, according to Dogara, is godly on the grounds that the Muslim ticket is against the unity of the country. Dogara was speaking at a symposium on the initiative crises in Nigeria that was held in Abuja as a part of occasions marking the 12th General Assembly of CAN.
He stated:
“I want to make it clear that CAN’s stance on the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in this country at this time of national danger is not simply CAN’s or Babachir Lawal’s, who many have accused of being the only one to make it an issue.“Because we worship a God of justice, I think it’s also the Almighty’s position to reject the same-faith ticket.
He is the author of diversity and the righteous one, and he wants us to unite despite our differences.
Therefore, the position taken by CAN is shared by all of us (Christian political leaders) who value righteousness, justice, and diversity and who endeavor to use them to promote our nation.
“Every other position is unholy, except for the one for which we are fighting. There is no intermediate ground.
Either you support truth, justice, and inclusivity, or you strive to undermine the cohesion of our wonderful nation.
