HERBAGE  SELLERS FOR PUBLIC WELL-BEING

          In its bid to ensure the well-being of the citizenry and checkmate the activities of Liquor and Harbage business in the Ogun State, the Alternate Medicine Board has begun screening /orientation programmes for about 600 Liquor and Harbage sellers across the State.

          The Chairman of the Board, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye said the workshop was to certify all Liquor and herbage sellers and encourage them to maintain the required standard.

          While presenting the certificate to the first batch of qualified participants, under the auspices of Omidola Association of Liquor, Herbage at Obada Oko, Olaleye warned them to desist from sharp practices that could bring shame to their business.

 promised that they would continue to enjoy government’s support at all times.

          The Board Chairman noted that as key agents in the sub-sector, that deal directly with human health, they could not be ignored or underestimated.

          He urged them to always engage themselves in regular consultations with those that have more knowledge on the practice, adding that self-help training and re-training should be encouraged, in order for them to be vast in their activities under the coordination of the State Alternate Medicine Board.

          His words “let me congratulate all of you that are here today as members of Omidola Liquor and Herbal Sellers’ Association in the State, especially those that had completed their registration and screening with the Board. Let me assure you here that there are a lot of advantages attached to your registration and certificate from both the government and the masses that you are dealing with.

          ‘’This certificate will not cover you to sell hard drugs or a dangerous mixture of alcoholics’ content or any other criminal act but allow you within the range of what you are trained to do, the government will stand by you once you are still within your limits.

          “To those that are yet to be registered, as soon as the ongoing registration is completed the enforcement of liquor sellers will commence immediately by the Board task force across the State", he said.

          Also speaking, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, commended the conduct of members of the Association of the Liquor and Herbal sellers and admonished them to do more because the government has recognised their operations.

          Speaking earlier, the President Omidola Liquor and Herbal Sellers’ Association, Mrs. Sherifat Akinsanya, appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for their initiative and wisdom.
