Two traditional rulers,10 others for Great Lagosians Hall of Fame Induction

HRM ABDULKABIR ADEYEMI OBALANLEGE,OLOTA,OTA

Two prominent traditional rulers, the Olota of Ota, Oba Prof Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege and the Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Elegushi top the list of twelve eminent Nigerians to be inducted into the Great Lagosians Hall of Fame in May.

This was disclosed yesterday by Mr Olawale Enitan Seriki, founding president, The Great Lagosians Hall of Fame at a press conference held at the Bavidi Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Seriki stated that the Great Lagosians Hall of Fame benchmarked on world class standard would be hosted at the Orchid-Lantana Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Apart from the Olota and Elegushi, other eminent Lagosians to be inducted include the Afrobeat king, Femi Anikulapo Kuti, pioneer stand up comedian, Ali Baba and showbiz journalist and HipTv founder, Ayo Animsashaun. Also on the roll of honour are Bishop Tom Samson, advertising czar, Senator Akin Odunsi and finance intelligence expert, Femi Awoyemi .

Others to be inducted are ace broadcaster and Managing Director (Radio Services), Daar Communication, Dr Ambrose Olutayo Somide, Alhaji Raufu Ladipo, President General, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Ikechi Uko, tourism journalist and founder, Akwaba, the travel market and oil and gas magnate, Alhaji Bashir Fakorede.

Giving reasons for initiating the Great Lagosians Hall of Fame project, Seriki said: "The Great Lagosians Hall of Fame is a child of necessity borne out of the need to reshape a city, a melting pot of some sort, undergoing the worst of decadent paralysis."

Adding that "the mindset of majority of our youth, tomorrow's leaders, is targeted at short-term means of achieving success at all costs. This naturally drives their soul and spirit towards crime and iniquity. Most of them don't end well. This mindset is totally destructive, and a threat to our future."

"Our answer to this cankerworm is to single out people domiciled in the city of Lagos, who by dint of hard work had excelled in their chosen feild of human endeavors. We honour, decorate and publize their exponential feats
to the full glare of the public for people to emulate."

Fashioned after the acclaimed American Hollywood Hall of Fame, The Great Lagosians Hall of Fame event will feature physical induction ceremony including Walk of Fame, Medal of Fame presentation and a book launch.
