A fruit seller, Mrs Roseline Joguntan has been raped to death at Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victim was killed at her family farm on the weekend around the Zion area of Igbokoda.
She was said to have gone to the farm alongside one of her children to pick fruits for sale.
A source said it was her child that raised the alarm when she noticed her mother was yet to return home from the farm.
Husband of the victim, Joguntan, said he rushed to the farm after calls to his wife’s cell phone went unanswered only to find her dead in the farm.
A spokesman for Ilaje Security Council, Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, said incessant killings were becoming worrisome in the community.
According to him: “It is so sad that Igbokoda is witnessing the highest security threat. It has become daily killings. People live in fear, a situation which has led to business activities being paralyzed.
“We are calling on the state government to please help in strengthening local vigilante in Igbokoda. The Security Task Force, Mr Governor directed the Council chairman to organize has not been done since.”
He urged security agencies to unravel those behind the killing of Mrs Joguntan.
“We are determined to fight for justice on behalf of any of our citizens, and before things get out of hands in Igbokoda, all perpetrators need to face the full wrath of the law.”
