Tragedy was averted on Wednesday, in Lagos, after emergency responders rescued a man who climbed a 200ft mast in Iyana-Ipaja area.It was learnt that the victim, Mr Daniel Chibuike Bassi was rescued at about 10am having sighted by sympathisers who raised an alarm that attracted the emergency responders.
Until the incident, he was said to be resident in Dopemu and worked as an aluminium technician in Aluminium Village, Dopemu.

Details of what prompted the victim to climb the mast could not be ascertained at press time as he was said to be incoherent.
The rescue mission was jointly performed by National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, The Nigeria Police and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA.
He was said to have told the rescue team that he arrived the scene at about 0800hours and started climbing the mast at 0830hours.
Also, he said he was alien to the area but something pushed him to go to the scene.
Eye witnesses’ account said the victim was said to have gone to Go-Yee area to inform people that he wanted to fellowship with God in songs and praises only to divert the session by climbing the mast located at Go Yee area.
Mr Bassi was later taken to Gowon Estate Police Station, Lagos.
However, further information could not be extracted from him due to his incoherency but NEMA had appealed to the Police to leave the distressed man to settle and calm down before any other thing.
Confirming the incident, NEMA Lagos State Acting Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye said the victim was with the Police at press time.
