Against the news making rounds and unfounded allegations claiming that the delay and disturbing issues in Itele town in Ado-Odo Ota,Ogun state about choice of Obaship candidates was connected with the Olota of Ota,HRM (Prof) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege,the Ekun ll, some even accused the revered King of supportive of Prince Ademola Eletu Asorota to emerge the substantive King of Itele town.
The stakeholders and indigenes of the town debunk and gathered to put the record straight that Olota had no hands in the current imbroglios ranting in the town about who become the crowned king but the decision is privily the prerogative of all the 7 Royal houses that comprises Itele ruling houses.
The seven ruling houses of Itele has in a press briefing reaffirm the choice of Demola Asorota as the next oba of Itele following a controversial news report that went viral purporting that Asorota was not the choice of the people for the Obaship, and should therefore stop parading himself as the next Oba of Itele.
The earlier report has said that the Ogun state House of Assembly through its committee on Local Government and chieftaincy affairs has warned one Mr. Ademola Eletu Asorota to desist from parading himself as the oba elect of Itele in Ado Odo Ota, local government area of the state.
Stating that the House committee led by Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, issued the warning during a meeting with the representatives of Adogun Atele family led by chief Taoheed Liasu, with a directive that all parties involved in the matter to stop all ongoing actions pending the delivery of judgement of a suit on the matter before the court.
Speaking on behalf of the seven ruling houses who held a joint press conference, Chief Asabiyi Fatai, Baale Ilegbede said, “The Adogun Atele house is not one of the ruling houses in Itele and therefore is never in any position to make inputs regarding Itele Awori, especially on the very important matter of choosing the next Oba of the town.
“From a landmark judgement passed in 1943, it was established that Adogun Atele family do not belong to the seven ruling families of Itele, because the name was not reflected in that judgement, neither was it in any historical documents of Itele land.” Asabiyi asserted.
The seven families jointly issued a disclaimer which reads, “The attention of all the ruling houses, Baales, and stakeholders of Itele Awori land have been drawn to some unfounded publications making the rounds particularly on social media platforms. The report is more fictious than not, it is unfounded, full of innuendoes that Itele Awori land is wholly owned by a single family.”
It reads further, “First off, there is a subsisting judgement of the Ogun state High court, by Honourable Justice Akinyemi which was affirmed even at the apex level of the judiciary, the supreme court confirming the validity, legality and sovereignty of seven (7) families as the customary owners of Itele Awori land.
