Ahead of the crucial Anambra Gubernatorial election which will take place later this year, as earlier stated by INEC, the pendulum seem to be swinging in favour of Chief Chukwuma Umeoji who is the leading Aspirant in APGA, as well as the most projected candidate of the party ahead of June primaries.
The aspiration of the two time Federal lawmaker and former ALGON Chairman received a boost as Elders of the State clamoured for his candidature to take the mantle of leadership from HE, Governor Willie Obiano when his tenure expires next March.
The Elders who spoke to news men in Awka shortly after their meeting, stated that Chief Chukwuma Umeoji MHR, stands taller and more qualified to succeed Governor Willie Obiano in office and would leavrage on the numerous achievements of the present administration.
The Elders which comprises of selected Traditional rulers, council Chiefs, Leaders of thoughts and other relevant cum critical stakeholders across party lines enjoined Governor Willie Obiano to complement his excellent performance in office by choosing a successor who understands the political terrain in the State and one who can competently manage the vigorous demands that comes with leadership.
Speaking further, Dr. Damian said, we see a similar character like Governor Willie Obiano in Chief Chukwuma Umeoji, he has a quality track record.
All other aspirants of the party are great and qualified but God and the elders have settled for OBA Aguata
Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji KSJI, MHR, who had served in various leadership position with many years of public service understand the needs of Anambra State and the big dreams as laid by HE, Governor Willie Obiano.
Umeoji had served as a former Local Government Chairman, as the ALGON Chairman as well, he was a member of several critical Committees in the State, and one of the arrow heads that assisted the present administration to solve the lingering security issues in Anambra while as a member of the State's security Council.
As a Federal House member, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji has demonstrated great sense of responsibity, he's a leading light in the 9th Assembly; his achievements are all over Aguata constituency.
