The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in reaction to the recent incessant crashes on roads has cutioned fleet operators against excess speed and intimidating other road users while on the wheel.
Its Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer Abdulfatai Olaseni Ogunyemi, who frowned and condemned the dangerous act, attitudes and driving of heavy duty vehicles while on the road, said the agency would always have zero tolerance for any indiscipline on the part of drivers that could cause misharp the road.
The TRACE boss, said: "Truck drivers engaged in dastadly activities on the road for economic gains, they speed beyond the prescribed legal speed limit in other to make more trips within a short time at the detriment of the lives of their passengers and other road users."
He appealed to other vehicle owners to always give maximum space limit between two vehicles and avoid competing road with hydraulic vehicles while behind the wheel to avoid unnecessary traffic crashes.
Commander Ogunyemi spoke in reactions to a fatal crash along Sagamu-Ogijo Road, Phonex Bus Stop, left four killed and six others critically injured on Monday, October 12, 2020.
The accident, INFORMATION CARRIER gathered, involved one Iveco truck, a Bajaj motorcycle (both registration number unidentified) and a Faragon commercial bus with registration numer FKJ 133 XX.
According to an eyewitness, said: "the truck was parked outside a company waiting to be called inside to load when the motorboy went inside the truck to drive it in, and suddenly lost control of the truck and rammed into the commercial bus and the Bajaj motorcycle killing the driver of the commercial bus and two other passengers inside the bus in addition to the pillion rider of the motorcycle."
The media outfit, further learnt the injured and the dead victims have been taken to Ogun State University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH).
In same vein, four persons also confirmed dead in a fatal crash occoured at Sapade Bridge area, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.
The crash, it was also learnt involved a DAF truck with registration number AGL813XX and Mazda bus marked FDY265XA, with six occupants comprises of five males and one female (all adults).
She said the ugly incident occurred around 2.55am, noting that the suspected cause of the fatal crash were route violation and dangerous driving.
The corpses of the presumed dead also learnt deposited at FOS Morgue Ipara.
The TRACE Corps condole with the family of the deceased, advised truck owners to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicle and avoid the use of minors as drivers to prevent avoidable crashes.
