Oba
Elegushi while making the appealling in his palace, expressed
displeasure about the pains the road users passing through on a daily
basis in all the Federal Government roads including the expressway that
link Lagos and Ogun states with neighbouring countries due to death
potholes that dotted the highways at dangerous sections.
The
monarch noted that Ado/Odo-Ota is the business hub of Ogun State and
Nigeria at large, adding that the federal road is strategic to
commercial activities between the people which the minister should
endeavour to consider for rehabilitation without any further delayed.
Oba Elegushi described the Lagos - Abeokuta road as a death trap while the Ota - Idiroko road is nothing to write home about.
Kabiyesi
further stressed that since the appointment of Fashola as the Federal
Minister for Works and Housing, he has virtually giving the people
nothing to be happy about in the entire southwest region which he
represents in Abuja.
Kabiyesi
also accused the minister to have approved and constructed several
roads in the North and Southeast but neglected Southwest. Kabiyesi urges
the minister to wake from his slumber and replicate what he has done to
other regions to the Southwest especially where Nigeria generated much
GDP.
"We
can no longer fold our arms and see our people die, why many businesses
in this axis suffer great loss because of the bad state of federal
roads in Ota where 2% GDP is generated by the federal government.
"As
one of the traditional rulers in Ado Odo Ota Local Government, my
domain is one which has been badly affected and I urge the Minister of
Works and Housing to swing into action and prove that he is not just a
ceremonial minister.
"I
requested with urgent action of fixing the above roads, which include
Lagos-Abeokuta, Ota-Idiroko and Atan - Agbara expressways which are all
in state of shambles according the kabiyesi."
